Description

Booking Essential - Meet the IMechE President from 1800, a finger buffet will be available from 1830, an opportunity for members to meet and network. President Phil Peel will then talk from 1900 about his career and year as IMechE President.

Following this will be a technical lecture 'A Robotic Menagerie' by Rob Siddall. Rob is an aerospace engineer and roboticist who develops robots that can tackle the most challenging terrain. This has included an aquatic aircraft, a robotic flying gecko and a fish that collects microplastics. Through these designs he will show how robotics can be used as a tool to further understand biology and ultimately build better robots. He will also consider how biomechanics and robotics can provide an entry point into engineering for young people with an interest in science.
