Welcome to the Oxford Area

This Area forms part of the Thameswey Region. Below you will find a list of forthcoming events: both visits and lectures organised by the Oxford Area Committee. All lectures are open to anyone with an interest in engineering, you do not have to be a member of the IMechE. The majority of our lectures take place at Oxford Brookes University (Gypsy Lane site), which is easily accessible by public transport or car. Please also visit the pages for the other Areas near us, and also the Young Members section.

Our profession is becoming increasingly ‘multi-discipline’ and we hope our programme reflects that trend. We aim to provide a wide ranging programme, and regularly hold joint lectures with other institutions such as the Institution of Civil Engineers and Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET).

We should be delighted to hear from anyone with ideas or proposals for lectures or visits and from members who would like get involved through joining the committee. We are also happy to help those wishing to become professionally registered who need advice or sponsors. Please contact us using the tab to the left of this page.

We look forward to meeting with you at any or all of our events.

Brian Walker, CEng, FIMechE, C Env, Oxford Area Chairman
