Programme for the 2022/2023session

The 2022-23 session will see a return to normal face-to-face meetings and we hope to provide an interesting and varied selection of topics.

We planned to hold our meetings face to face on the second Wednesday of each month

The session opener will be on Wednesday 7th September when Max Ordish of Porterbrook and Ian Hyde of Chiltern Railways will talk to us about the HybridFLEX - the hybrid conversion of a Class 168 unit

On 12th October the new RD Chairman Noel Travers presents his Chairman's address -" ‘Not a very good engineer' - the fallacy and effect of this mindset"

On 9th November Neil Dinmore will present on 'Managing cracks on trains- a retrospective' an overview of the recent issues of cracks on rolling stock

On 7th December, in a joint meeting with DRES, David Powell will give an update on the introduction on Merseytravel's new class 777 trains

On January 11th 2023 in a change to the advertised programme, Felix Schmid will present his talk entitled 'Steep railways challenge Gravity'

The Future of Rail Presentation Competition will be held on 8th February when we will hear presentations by 3 local younger engineers.

On 22ndMarch, in a joint lecture with PWI, Robin Lee will outline Park Signalling's new approach to rural lines signalling and will include demonstrations of equipment

On 12th April, Kevin Hope from NR will give a brief history of trainborne infrastructure monitoring
