Summary:

The report summarizes this year'sMECHATHON 4.0that took place on 24th December, 2019. Mechathon consisted of two modules:
1.桥梁建设成立n
2. Bottle Rocket Competition
3. Spud Gun Competition

A total of 60 teams took part in it, with 33 teams in the Bottle Rocket Competition and 27 teams in the Bridge Building Competition. The Bottle Rocket Competition was headed by Mr. Talha and Mr. Usman while the bridge building competition was supervised by Mr. Fakhar and Mr. Khizar. Like the previous events hosted by the IMechE student chapter at NED, this year's event was also a great success with many teams and sponsors showing great enthusiasm towards it.

Background:

The event was led by the Student Chair Mr. Hassan Mouzzam and his executive team. Some special mentions include Ms. Aafia Jameela Javaid, Mr. Muzammil Pasha, Mr. Ahmed Baig and Mr. Hammad.

The event was held in the fountain area of NED University and became a creative opportunity for the learning engineers while providing them with good technical knowledge.

Description:

1.Event Opening:The event started at precisely 1000 hours. The bottle rocket was conducted at the point area along with the provision of essential equipment to the registered teams. The bridge building was organized at the fountain area of NED University also starting at 1000 hours. The necessary equipment was provided with the assistance of the supporting staff.
2. Teams:The event gathered a lot of attention from the students: 60 teams had participated. To merely watch the event, a crowd of 400-450 with 100+ members and 300+ non-members gathered.
3. Bottle Rocket Competition:The events persuaded the students to gear up and give themselves some capital time and get their battle rocket shoot up high at maximum range. The students were inspired into making different designs of their own choosing out of plastic bottles. The first round comprised of 33 teams. Top 10 teams were shortlisted from the 1st round on the maximum target and range obtained. They moved on to the second round showing excellent results and exceptional performance throughout the event. In the end, Team Maverick came on top and claimed the winner position while Automotive United rose to be at the runner up position.
4. Bridge Building Competition:The event as promised was a great opportunity for the students to enhance their practical and technical skills. The candidates developed a wooden Bridge capable of withstanding loads of weight out of some ice-cream sticks and took the opportunity to practically demonstrate their architectural abilities and knowledge of Truss structures. The team Mechvengers won the competition and claimed the winner place, while team Bob the builder claimed the runner up position.

Closing Ceremony:

The faculty advisor of IMechE, Sir Tariq Jameel, and ex-student chair, Mr. Hassan Mouzzam, were present to give awards to the winners on their astounding performance. The judging was done by the members of IMechE team.

Need for Such Events:

In the present era, where the whole world is engaged in a race to win, to conquer and to explore, such events help the students think out of the box. Their creative thinking is enhanced and they make prototypes, while improving their skills.
