If you live in and around Huddersfield/Halifax, we are here to support you and all our fellow local members.

There are over 500 members within the area and it is great to see the area continue to be a centre of engineering excellence.

Activities

We aim to put together a variety of events each year, including technical lectures, CPD workshops, social events and technical visits. We hope you find something of interest among the selection and look forward to meeting you at some of these events.

The events try to cover the IMechE key themes of Energy, Environment, Education, Healthcare, Transport and Manufacturing.

The IMechE Yorkshire Western Area Committee has established a close link with theCalderdale & Kirklees Manufacturing Alliance (CKMA)- run by manufacturers for manufacturers.Read their latest newsletter to find out more about their events.

In 2021, theCKMAlaunched theirMake it in Manufacturing Virtualevent. Aimed at Year 8 & 9 students and their teachers,MiiMshowcases local companies who produce an amazing range of products and sell globally. In a bid to inspire the next generation of engineers, this event offers information on which "options" to study for their future careers, and presents successful local businesses who are always looking for young, talented people keen to enter the world of work in a variety of roles.
