Our annual Family Evening this year is a presentation by Dave Saunders on that most controversial of characters from railway history, Dr Richard Beeching. The 'Beeching Report' was published on 27th March 1963. The Beeching proposed wholesale route closures in an attempt to concentrate resources on the core routes. Was he wrong, or right? Was he led or misguided or a farsighted thinker? See if you agree with Dave's thoughts.
