Description

The Jurassic Coast of East Devon and Dorset is celebrating 20 years of Natural World Heritage status. What makes it so unique? In this talk geoscientist Vincent Sheppard will take you on a 185 million year journey exploring a period of earth history covering a third of the time that life has evolved on our planet. You will find out how evidence in the local geology observed on the coast can provide information for understanding how the rocks have been formed. Vincent will also explain how we can use technology to investigate how these geological layers extend beneath our feet deep into the subsurface.

Speaker(s)

Vincent is a geoscience consultant with 35 years’ experience in subsurface imaging and interpretation. BSc in Geophysics from Edinburgh Uni and a MSc in Petroleum Engineering from Heriot Watt. Jurassic Coast Ambassador and regularly provides talks and guided walks.
