Welcome to the Railway Division South East Centre
Known as the RDSE, the centre is responsible for coordinating learned society activities in the southeast region of England on behalf of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers Railway Division. Each year we organise a programme of events on rail-related subjects for those working, or have an interest, in rail.

We continue with a talk on the GCRE followed by developments in rolling stock hybrid propulsion. As usual we will be hosting the regional heat of the Future of Rail presentation competition and hearing from the Railway Division Chair, which this year is Andrew Skinner. We complete the year hearing about developments in rolling stock for the Central line and with a technical visit to the London Transport Museum Depot in Acton.
This year we are planning programme of events up until the end of 2024. Thereafter we will plan on a calendar year basis, as opposed to the academic calendar.
Our events are held at the offices of the Rail Safety & Standards Board in Moorgate, London. Virtual attendance options will be provided at some of our talks, but in-person attendance is recommended for maximum benefit and to enjoy the complimentary refreshments!
