The Smart Weeding System (SWS) is unique in that it records and detects the weeds in any given area, thus improving efficiency by applying herbicide only to an area where weeds/vegetation are detected.The ENVU trains have been in service for just over twelve months and have operated on around 12,000 miles of infrastructure, subsequently being modified to treat a variable bankside by using an adjustable nozzle.
Adrian Marston Eng Tech MIMechE, Rail Contracts Manager, ENVU, has an extensive rail and Royal Navy engineering and operations background. Dave Cornish is from Nomix Enviro, which supplies 90% of the chemicals used on the smart weed spray train.
