Description

Eastern Region South Essex Area Electric Aircraft Design: Rolls Royce “Spirit of Innovation” Speaker: John Wighton FRAeS, Managing Director of Acroflight Acroflight's current client portfolio includes the Rolls Royce ACCEL electric aircraft program. From 2018 Acroflight's role was to contribute to the aircraft design, perform engineering analysis (stress) and create verification reports leading to releasing the flight readiness documents. The Rolls Royce ACCEL is a 7.3 m (24 ft) span aircraft powered by three high power density electric motors driving a single three- blade propeller spinning at 2,400 RPM. Battery output power will be 500 hp (373 kW) continuous, reaching 750 kW (1,010 hp) at maximum power. It is designed to have the highest energy density for an aircraft, and should allow a 310km range.
