IMechE Italy Groupin collaboration withComitato Nucleare e Ragionewill offer a technical lecture on future nuclear technology an d current applications.



In fact, nuclear technology is not only fission reactor but covers several applications like NDT technology or devices to scan and detect radiological waste and contaminated items.

Furthermore, current technology is evolving due the studies and applications of fusion mechanism.



An overview of this technology will be provided as well.

Speakers

Laura Gerla, graduated in nuclear engineering in 2017 at Politecnico di Milano, moved to the UK in 2019 to work for Southern Scientific Ltd as Nuclear Sector Manager. Few years of experience in Radiation detection systems both in nuclear and industrial applications.

Alessandro Maffini, graduated in Nuclear Engineering at Politecnico di Milano in 2012 and then got a PhD in Energy & Nuclear Science and Technology in 2015 with a thesis in the field of nuclear fusion research. From 2016 to 2020 he worked as a post-doc within the European ERC project ENSURE - Exploring the new science and engineering unveiled by ultraintense ultrashort radiation interaction with matter". Since 2020 he is Assistant Professor (RTDa) at the Department of Energy of Politecnico di Milano.
