Webinar Topic:

InteShip: Holistic Surface Platform Performance Modelling
Description
Naval ships are highly integrated systems required to perform a wide variety of missions which often place conflicting requirements on the design. When developing a new design, it is important to understand the design space and to be able to make trade-offs between different performance metrics. This presentation discusses InteShip, a holistic platform performance modelling tool being developed by DSTG. InteShip provides a flexible and modular models of naval ships, to support evidenced based decision making for naval shipbuilding projects.
Bio
Peter Hield received a Masters of Engineering from Imperial College, London, in 2002. He completed a PhD at the University of Melbourne, titled “An experimental and theoretical investigation of thermoacoustic instability in a turbulent premixed laboratory combustor”, graduating in 2008, and received the Dr John Patterson prize for the best thesis from the School of Engineering for his work.
He worked in a variety of process industry Mechanical Engineering positions, before joining the Defence Science and Technology Group in February 2010. His work at DSTG has focussed on power and energy systems for naval vessels, as well as holistic platform performance modelling.
