Climate change is resulting in var ious impacts\, including more frequent and intense heatwaves\, storms\, fl ooding\, and sea-level rise. These impacts pose significant challenges to infrastructure systems\, such as roads\, bridges\, buildings\, water suppl y systems\, and energy grids.\nThe primary goal of climate resilient infra structure is to enhance the ability of infrastructure systems to withstand and recover from climate-related hazards. It involves integrating climate data\, projections\, and risk assessments into the planning\, design\, an d construction of infrastructure projects with the aim of minimising vulne rabilities to climate related hazards such as extreme weather events\, sea -level rise\, increased temperatures\, and changing precipitation patterns .\n\nClimate resilience infrastructure development incorporates various ad aptation strategies such as elevating structures in flood-prone areas\, us ing climate-resistant building materials\, improving drainage systems\, im plementing nature-based solutions (e.g.\, green infrastructure)\, and ensu ring redundancy and flexibility in infrastructure design.\n\nDistinguished speakers from the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE)\, the Inst itution of Civil Engineers (ICE)\, the Chartered Institution of Building S ervices Engineers (CIBSE) and the Chartered Institution of Water and Envir onmental Management (CIWEM) will join HKIE at the Conference to share thei r views and experiences.\n\nChair of IMechE Climate Change Adaptation Work ing Group\, Dr Tim FOX will give speech on "New Perspectives on Climate-re silient Infrastructure and Future Proofing"\n\nThe conference will be orga nised in a hybrid mode with 120 in-person participants at the Telford Thea tre\, ICE and around 200 online participants from Hong Kong and elsewhere. \n\nFor more details\, please refer to the flyer.\n\nContact Details: Ali Li\nTelephone: 3153 4182\nAddress: Hong Kong.
